Dear Me,

Whenever you start to notice those lines

(the ones that crown your eyes)

are deeper

than they used to be,

please remember the smiles that created them.

And the labour of life (and of living it fully) that etched them.

These are lines that whisper

truthfully of how

you earned them.

Of how you came to be,

and hints at what will be.

They say

it takes more tissue and bone

to frown,

than it does to smile.

Uncrinkle yourself

from the confines of what is deemed “beautiful.”

Envelope all that is you.

Let go of what pulls

you

away from self adoration.

Love,

Your Wrinkles x
